The busiest days were the hardest to staff.
Beachclub Royal sits right on the beach at Hoek van Holland, Rotterdam’s own stretch of North Sea coast, where it has welcomed guests for more than 30 years. It is open 365 days a year, with a terrace of real palms, sand and sunbeds, beach service, and space for everything from weddings to business meetings and events for up to 10,000 guests. Demand follows the weather: when the sun comes out, the whole city heads to the coast and the terrace fills within hours.
On those days, every missing pair of hands was felt at every table. Extra shifts were added at the last minute, the core team stretched to cover the gaps, and a full beach became something to survive rather than enjoy. Before anything else could improve, the club needed reliable, experienced staff it could count on every day of the season, not scramble for when the forecast turned good. Just as important, the quiet months needed a plan of their own.
What we did
Our approach, step by step.
01 · We covered the peak
Flexitt came in at the start of the season with one clear job: keep the club running at full capacity. Since June, we have sent five experienced hospitality professionals to Beachclub Royal every day of peak season. When a shift fell through, it was covered before it became a problem, so every table, terrace and umbrella had someone behind it. For the first time in a long while, management could stop chasing people and put its attention back on the guests.
02 · We planned for the quiet months
Once the peak was covered, attention turned to the months that decide whether a beach club has a good year or just a good summer. Alongside the staffing, Flexitt set up a win-win consultancy partnership to carry the club through the low season. Together with management, we are looking at how the team, the hours and the costs should flex when the terrace goes quiet. The goal isn't to shrink the operation; it's to make sure the quiet months don't eat what the peak earned.
03 · We're building year-round demand
With the operation on solid ground, the next question is demand: how to keep the club busy beyond the summer. Royal already has plenty of reasons to visit: an officially recognised wedding location, a business lounge overlooking the sea, events for 10 to 10,000 guests and winter brunches. Flexitt is now proposing a marketing and consultancy strategy that puts those reasons in front of more guests, with social media connected straight to reservations: Social Media → Reservation → Visit → Repeat Guest. The aim is simple: make the quiet months work as hard as July.
